SENSITIVITY ANALYSIS FOR MINING PROJECTS EVALUATION

The sensitivity analysis, in the context of a mining project, is used to evaluate the impact of changes in a single variable (grade, mill recovery rate, operation cost, etc.) on the expected viability of the project (RPV, TRI, etc.).

To evaluate this sensitivity, the feasibility study reports generally present graphs similar to the following:

The scenario analysis, provided in Excel, allows to evaluate the impact of changing two variables simultaneously, such as the commodity selling price and its transportation cost, on the viability of the project.

The following table shows an example of results.

Remarque
In this example, the NPV is at 40.3M$ when the simultaneous commodity price and transportation cost decrease respectively by 10% and 30%.
